Emily Palmer, Veterinary Technician

Emily has been a veterinary technician at Main Street since 2010. She has 14 years of experience working with animals, including 9 years experience as a veterinary technician working in general practice, emergency practice, and for an orthopedic surgeon. Emily brings a calm demeanor and focus to her work and is always in tune with special needs for our patients. Her favorite part of her job is performing dental cleanings and helping teeth become white again! Emily lives in Carrizo Plain with her fiance and their 3 dogs (a Corgie named Oso and 2 Pyrenees named Bonnie and Clyde), 5 horses, and a flock of sheep. She is president of the SLO County Trailblazers Riding Club and mentor to many young 4-H kids who are raising lambs.

Julie Montgomery, Veterinary Technician

Julie is a licensed veterinary technician with over 35 years of experience working in private practice at clinics in San Luis Obispo County and in the California Valley. She brings positive energy and joy to the work she does as a veterinary technician and this rubs off the rest of our team and our patients. Her favorite part of working in animal hospitals is "knowing that we have helped the quality of pets and their people," she says. Julie lives in Creston with her husband. Her hobbies include gardening, singing in a band with her husband and traveling. She has several pets including Pocket the Morkie, Rougechein the Standard Poodle and Remmy a terrier cross.

Jordan Rouse, Veterinary Technician

Jordan joined our team in the summer of 2021. She has over four years experience as a licensed veterinary technician in California. She has a special interest in dentistry. Jordan began her journey to veterinary medicine at 16 when she started working at the humane society. From there she decided she wanted to focus on becoming a licensed technician to help animals as a career. She lives in Atascadero with her family and their cat Colby Jack.

Vanessa Evans, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Vanessa has been a licensed Veterinary Technician for 14 years. She has experience in general practice and shelter medicine. Vanessa's favorite thing about going to work everyday is being able to laugh with her coworkers while they improve the lives of the patients they care for at the clinic. She has a Miniature Schnauzer named Princess Peach along with two cats, Cookie and Scooter. Vanessa lives in Morro Bay and enjoys taking Peach for walks on the beach.

Sarah Weagle, Licensed Veterinary Technician

Sarah joined the team at Main Street Small Animal Hospital the spring of 2022. Sarah has been a licensed Veterinary Technician for over 10 years. She has experience working in specialty referral centers and general medicine. Sarah lives in Atascadero with her five dogs: Opie, Juice, Gracie, Colt and Peaches.

Bill Mitchell, Veterinary Assistant

Bill has been part of the team at Main Street since 2008. Bill is like a swiss army knife for our team; he keeps our shelves stocked and our computers working. He administers vaccines, helps with taking X-rays, and keeps the clinic running smoothly. He also keeps smiles on our faces with his good humor and kindness. Bill's favorite part of working at Main Street is the bond he shares with the team. He also loves getting to know the clients and their pets. Bill lives with his wife Shay in Templeton with their two children, 2 dogs (Sloan the Golden Retriever and Ruger the Boston Terrier cross), and their cat (Sugar Sparkle Cube). When Bill is out of the hospital, he loves to fish at Margarita lake or on the Patriot out of San Luis Bay.

Kelsi Cornett, Veterinary Assistant

Kelsi has been part of our team at Main Street since October of 2017. She has a degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly and is interested in learning more about Veterinary Medicine and possibly growing into a veterinary technician role with the hospital. Kelsi lives in Paso Robles with her boyfriend Greg. They have a 13 year old big lazy horse named “Tucker”, a pony named “Checkers”, and 2 cats; “Nala” and “CeCe”.

Nikky Simons, Veterinary Assistant

Nikky has been a part of our team since 2018. She was born and raised in Templeton and went to Humboldt State University, graduating with a BA in Psychology. She loves working with animals and giving them the TLC they need to get better. She has a bug chasing border collie named Shylo who loves hanging at the beach. When not at the beach you might find Nikky enjoying live music, bowling, or making travel plans.

Cynthia Frazier, Veterinary Assistant

Cynthia joined the team at Main Street Small Animal Hospital in March of 2023. She has been an assistant for a short period of time but is working towards her goal of becoming a licensed Veterinary Technician. She has lived in SLO county all her life. She has two Basset Hounds named Bandit and Winston. Her favorite part about working in veterinary medicine is making sure all the animals get the attention they need and giving them lots of extra love.

Shay Mitchell, Client Services

Shay has been working at Main Street since 1998 and in the veterinary field since 1993. Shay works at the front desk and always has a smile on her face! She enjoys getting to know all the clients and helping them get the care they need for their pets. She loves working at Main Street because it feels like one big family - which is true for Shay, as her husband Bill works here, too! Shay has 2 dogs; Higgins the Golden Retriever and Ruger who is a Boston Terrier/Jack Russel mix. She also has 3 cats; Thomas, Gunner, and Sparkle Sugar Cube. Shay and Bill are active in Templeton youth football and cheer as coaches. They also love hitting the water at Lake Nacimiento for wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and fishing. Shay lives in Templeton with Bill and their children Mark and Lexi.

Kaylah Jackson, Client Services

Kaylah joined the team at Main Street in September of 2017. She recently moved back to the central coast after living in Florida for the last four years. Prior to joining our team she managed the front desk staff at a busy four doctor practice in northeast Florida. Kaylah’s favorite part of working at the veterinary hospital is “coming to work each day knowing she is working to help people help their pets”. Kaylah lives in Atascadero with her fiance Victor and their 2 fur babies; “Behr” the Aussie Shepard and “Maddie” the Catahuola cross.

Judy Wakefield, Master Gardener and Building Beautifier!

Judy has been working at Main Street since 1999 and in animal-related fields since the 1960's! She helps us keep our facility and grounds looking in top shape! Judy brings a smile to everyone's face and spreads joy while she works. She is a relentless ant hunter. Her thumbs are green, and she has painted the building at least 5 times. In between jobs, she pampers pets and boosts our morale. Judy's favorite part of working here is our fun staff and the fact that her job gives her a good workout - no gym membership required! Judy lives in Templeton on acreage with her daughter's family. She has 2 dogs, 6 cats, 4 horses, a pony, a mule, and a longhorn. She loves to trail ride. She travels to Hawaii at least twice per year to see her family on the big island and catch up with the grandkids.
